The Persian Hours

Welcome to my website.

It borrows its title from a musical work by Charles Koechlin (in French: Les Heures persanes), inspired by Pierre Loti's travel book Vers Ispahan. As for the illustration above (Excursion on the Golden Horn by Tristram Ellis), it evokes for me other works by Pierre Loti: Aziyadé, Fantôme d'Orient and Les Désenchantées, which have Istanbul as a common denominator.

The Persian hours are those that slowly pass, during a four-hundred-league journey by horse entirely dedicated to contemplation, from Bushehr to Anzali, via Shiraz, Persepolis, Esfahan and Tehran... They also are the long hours that I spend studying all that fascinates me, listening to early music, reading, watching movies, writing, meditating...
